New Medical QR Wristbands Available for Older Adults

The Tompkins County Office for the Aging is now participating in the Senior Care Concierge (SCC) MedQR program, which provides wearable medical QR code wristbands for older adults.

These wristbands allow emergency responders and healthcare professionals to quickly access important medical information by scanning the QR code with a smartphone during an emergency. This can be especially helpful if an individual is unable to communicate or provide their medical history.

Information available through the QR code may include:

• Name and date of birth

• Address

• Preferred language

• Allergies

• Current medications

• Medical conditions

• Medical aids

• Insurance information

• Emergency contacts

• Other important medical notes

  
  

The Tompkins County Office for the Aging is distributing these wristbands to higher-risk clients and other interested adults age 60 and older.
